Our Tips for Visiting a Miniature Train Museum
Before you head out, here are some tips to get the most of your Miniature Train Museum Adventure.
  • Check out the days and times the museum is open. It's always best to call, as I've found online information isn't always up-to-date. Smaller museums may have limited opening times, so it's especially important to check ahead for those locations.
  • Check out pricing and forms of payment, if applicable.
  • Parking availability is another thing you want to look into.
  • Talk about museum rules and etiquette before you go in, so your kiddoes are prepared for what's expected. We always talk about the no touch rule in museums and being aware of those around us.
  • Check out the website before you go. Do they have a unique collection or creative building process? When are their special events? Do they have workshops or guided tours?
  • Read up on the history of miniature trains or if you want to go bigger railroad trains. Immerse yourself in the history and significance of trains by watching historical videos or presentations.
  • Make a library stop and get some books on trains. You can read a few before your visit and read a few afterwards.
  • While you are there, be sure to read the displays and watch any videos available!
