Tinker Crates are science kits that are designed for ages 9-14+. They contain a Tinker Zine (version of a magazine that provides lots of information on the topic, directions for projects and resource lists for the topic of each kit which includes a video for how to construct or complete the project that is included), blue prints, and materials for projects. There is generally one large project and then other smaller projects or experiments included. Occasionally there is an extra that lets you use materials around your house to experiment.
Jo-Jo was very excited to open her box and get busy.
She quickly flipped through the pages to look over what projects were included and went over the blue print.
The first project she worked on was the thumatrope.
By attaching the designs back to back with a skewer in between and spinning them, the image moves. She made a couple of her own as well. One was a shooting star.
She cut out the pieces for a flipbook movie.
Then she watched it, after attaching the papers with a binder clip.
We picked up a couple of glowsticks so that she could practice persistence of vision.
It is where you see a bunch of images of something at the same time.
She read about the history of animation and watched this video.
She made a zoetrope.
She used the images provided and made a movie of her own. 
We downloaded a stop motion app and she created lots of movies, too.
