Lucado Treasury of Bedtime Prayers:Prayers for Bedtime and Every Time of Day {A Review}

I received a free copy of Lucado Treasury of Bedtime Prayers: Prayers for Bedtime and Every Time of Day from Family Christian in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way for writing the review. All opinions I have expressed are my own or those of my family. I am disclosing this information in accordance with the FTC Regulations.

We are a praying house. We pray before our school days. We pray at meals. We pray at bedtime. We pray in joy. We pray in sorrow. We pray our thanks. We pray our hopes.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people. ~Ephesians 6:18

We study God's word together. We read our Bibles in quiet times and in chaos. We talk about it's truths.

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. ~Joshua 1:8

"However much we'd like to spare our children the struggles of life, we can't. But we can do this: we can teach them to pray. We can teach them to talk to God about everything, anything, any time, and all the time."~from Lucado Treasury of Bedtime Prayers: Prayers for Bedtime and Every Time of Day

A life spent in prayer is a life that is spent in obedience and blessings.

Lucado Treasury of Bedtime Prayers: Prayers for Bedtime and Every Time of Day has 160 pages of prayers for those with young children with encouraging sayings and questions and answers. Over 200 Prayers are categorized into the sections:

  • Good Morning, God
  • God, You Are Great
  • My Family and Friends
  • In My Play and Through My Day
  • My Mealtime Prayers
  • God Takes Care of Me
  • Teach Me, God
  • Prayers for Special Days
  • Thank You, God!
  • Good Night, God
There are pages with specific prayers for "when I need help," "when I am afraid," and "when I am feeling all alone" also.

The prayers come from scripture (both in the International Children's Bible and New International Version),

traditional prayers,

and original prayers from Max and Denalyn Lucado.

There is a blue ribbon bookmark and a page for you to write who it is to, who it is from and a place called Prayer for You.

You can get your very own copy of Lucado Treasury of Bedtime Prayers: Prayers for Bedtime and Every Time of Day, too.

Who wants this?
Anyone with children that would like to share special prayers with them would enjoy the Lucado Treasury of Bedtime Prayers. Especially if the kids like to climb up in your lap and cuddle. I would say that toddlers through 7 year olds would especially like to listen to the prayers. But kids 8 and up enjoy reading them too.

He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. ~Isaiah 40:11

Around our House
Ceesa enjoys reading the prayers and sharing them with the rest of the family. For dinner just the other night, she read one to bless our meal.

For our Homeschool
We are reading a prayer a day with Li for his morning story time. Both boys love to climb up into my lap and listen to the prayers and look at the pictures.

"The earlier our children learn that heaven is real, that it's our hometown and a wonderful place God has made for us, the less earthbound they will live, filling their lives with great purpose and a Godly perspective."

As a family, I like praying before dinner. For myself, anytime throughout the day, or in bed ;)

We pray a lot together as a family. It creates so much unity!

We pray together at night and at meals. We like the "Now I Lay Me. . ." prayer.

We pray a blessing over the kids each night. Although I've only recently found they don't say their own prayers at night. We need to start!
