September's book share with Poppins Book Nook is The Wild West. We chose Tree in the Trail by Holling C. Holling.
Tree in the Trail is about the events that occur around a certain cottonwood tree that sits along the Santa Fe trail. We'd recommend the book for ages 8-12.
Here's our round up of crafts, activities, field trips, reading guides, lesson plans, maps, art, music, and fun to go along with the book:

Proud to be from the West myself! I think my favorite would be Don't Mess with Texas- I'm not sure how old the phrase is but its a good one :) Tree in the Trail looks familiar to me so I think I read it when I was young, I'll have to check it out for my kids!
ReplyDeleteThe kids love to use it with mapping.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a cute book.
ReplyDeleteWe like especially like what happens with the tree at the end of the story.
