We've been butterfly hunting. The first one we've seen is the Pearl Crescent from the Brushfoot Family.
We've made sketchs, taken pictures, and taken notes.
Here are our notes:
Habitat~open, sunny places; such as, roadsides, meadows, and streams
Eggs~lay green eggs in clusters on asters, have multiple broods (3-4)
Flight~rapid and irratic, tend to be close to the ground
Winter~pass in larval stage
They are very common in our state from March to November.
