Nature Study: Pearl Cresent Butterfly

We've been butterfly hunting. The first one we've seen is the Pearl Crescent from the Brushfoot Family.

We've made sketchs, taken pictures, and taken notes.

Here are our notes:

Habitat~open, sunny places; such as, roadsides, meadows, and streams

Eggs~lay green eggs in clusters on asters, have multiple broods (3-4)

Flight~rapid and irratic, tend to be close to the ground

Winter~pass in larval stage

They are very common in our state from March to November.

Wishing you homeschool blessings,
