July's book share with Poppins Book Nook is Ye Old Pirates. We choose Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island.
Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson tells the story of the brilliant, devious Long John Silver and Jim Hawkins' (a young boy) adventures seeking the lost treasure of Captain Flint on Treasure Island. There is much more to Long John that meets the eye and when they are very close upon the treasure, the cunning Silver shows just how murderous he really is. We would recommend this book for ages 12 and up.
Here's our round up of crafts, activities, field trips, reading guides, lesson plans, maps, art, music, and fun to go along with Treasure Island.

So Pirate's Pie is sort of a seafood version of a Shepherd's Pie? Hmmm....did you try it?
Not yet! We love Shepards Pie though. :)
We would love the Pirate Stories one! Thank you for the opportunity. :-)
we would love to win the pirate's handbook! my girls are so obsessed with pirates, right now! to the point that my daughter had a "pirate princess rainbow barbie party..."
I would like to win The Pirate's Handbook. I think my son would love it.
The Pirate's Handbook would be great for my 8 year old daughter!
My children would love The Pirate's Handbook....Arr' Matey!
I keep thinking about Treasure Island for my nine year old...mostly because while we were doing the pirate theme this month, he watched Muppet Treasure Island and Treasure Planet. I'm going to have to pin this for when he gets ready to actually read the book :-)
Thanks for rounding up so many great activities to accompany Treasure Island.
Thank you for helping to bring a spoonful of reading fun to the Poppins Book Nook this month!
Love the sound of that Pirate's Pie- and what a great variety of ideas you have to share! I remember reading this book when I was 10 and it is still one of my favourites.
I just read it fot the first time. I had no idea that is where the name Long John Silver came from! :)
My boys loved Treasure Island as well. There is so much you can do with it.
Yes. Pirate-y and otherwise.
