Roosevelt leads a very unique life. He had strong Christian values and a
deep love for his family. He stuck to his guns and many respected him, even his
enemies. The book that we’ve read this term about him is called Carry a Big Stick: The Uncommon Heroism of
Teddy Roosevelt. Explain what was so uncommon about the heroism that
Theodore Roosevelt showed. Consider…What he thought and how he reacted and influenced those around him.
Bible & Service: readings, hymn & SS: Government, citizenship,
history, geography: Mood with visual expression (diagrams,
blow-outs, maps, graphic organizers, chart, poster, pamphlet)
Music: composer, folk song, hymn, instrument: View point with creative expression (handicraft,
recycled material project, diorama, cooking, land art, or art media: collage,
paint, mold, chalk, pencil)
When
we listen to a composer or director, we are influenced by their point of view.
When we listened Carl Ditters Von Dittersdorf, we heard piano and orchestra.
Anytime we listen to a piece of music someone composed it and he/she made their
feelings about the topic come out. Choose your own subject and find a way to
express what you think of it.
Music: composer, folk song, hymn, instrument, Art: artist, technique, Literature,
poetry, and additional reading, SS: Government, citizenship, history, geography:
Drama,
Movement, and Change with oral expression (presentation:
Defend, Persuade, judge, compare/contrast, inform, narration)
Many
times wars are fought for freedom and change, usually greed is involved. In
Kim, we read about different caste systems. Many of the people couldn’t eat
with people in other castes. They didn’t wear the same clothes or travel in the
same ways. Kim worked as a spy and took advantage of all of the different
castes in that society. When we read about George Washington Carver, we learned
how the differences in America caused divides in the way people were treated.
Carver was patient with the mistreatment and was a passive seeming force for
change. Choose a war or conflict and create a presentation to explain if the
people’s lives are better or worse from war?
Bible & Service: readings, hymn & SS: Government, citizenship,
history, geography: The Greater Meaning with movement (play, puppet show, music, dance,
video (still, animated, silent, movie)
Science:
experiments, nature study: Background with analytical expression (game, puzzle, crossword, word search,
code)
This term we’ve
been studying geese, tadpoles to frogs, and eggs to birds. Think of some terms
that related to one or all of those topics. Make a game or puzzle that you
could give someone so that they could learn about the relationship of what
we’ve studied.
