We've been reworking how we are doing exams. We include some fun things in the afternoons and work diligently and purposefully on the handful of questions that I ask in the mornings. I thought I'd share them with you!

Bible and Science: The Greater Meaning with creative
expression/communication
(handicraft,
recycled material project, diorama, cooking, land art, or art media: collage,
paint, mold, chalk, pencil
The
Bible tells us that we are a creation of God and that all of creation (even the
rocks and the trees cry out his name). Demonstrate how this is true—consider
how nature and the created world proves this. Wild edibles (dandelion,
cinnamon, cleavers, garlic mustard, chickweed, violets), trillium, and spring
peepers are some examples of things we’ve studied this term. Remember to
present this beautifully.
Literature: Background with movement
(play, puppet show, music, dance, video (still,
animated, silent, movie)
Create
a scene from Much Ado About Nothing. Be detailed, take your time and be sure to
include things that include where it took place, the people in the scene, how
they are feeling, and what they are wearing.
Science: View
point with oral expression
(presentation:
Defend, Persuade, judge, compare/contrast, inform, narration)
Make an outline
for an oral presentation to defend why you will not use Madam How and Lady with
your own children. Write it like you wish to persuade your audience why it is a
good idea to not read it. Use examples from the book and from the Bible.
Social Studies: Characterization with analytical
expression
(game, puzzle, crossword, word search,code)
Using your book of centuries, maps, and your
knowledge of the time that George Washington lived demonstrate how George
Washington’s life made an impact on the founding of our country. Consider the
relationships between the famous people of the time (Thomas Jefferson, John and
Abigail Adams, Alexander Hamilton, Lafayette).
What makes someone a good leader and good versus not so good leaders
(Nicias, Frederick the Great, Napoleon, Catherine the Great, Marie Antoinette
or Papa from Papa’s Pearls or missionaries John Newton and David Brainerd)?
Music,
Art and Literature: Mood with visual
expression
(diagrams, blow-outs, maps, graphic organizers,
chart, poster, pamphlet)
Music, art, and literature are integral parts of life, history, and culture. You’ve studied music in various forms this term. You’ve learned about hymns, folk songs, composers, and musical time periods. You’ve learned about impressionists, post-impressionists and pointillism. You’ve read about Cupid and Psyche, Echo and Narcissus, Niobe, Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Rip Van Winkle, and the Incredible Journey. Choose 5 of these things and put their name in the chart below. Explain the influence they represented and the influence they had in society at the time.
