Beach Meals: On packing food to take to the beach with kids

Heading out to the beach is a lovely way to spend the day, but packing food to take to the beach can be a bit tricky especially when you've got youngins'. You have to take things that can be kept cool and won't collect sand (we've learned that the hard way).

Here are our suggestions for a meal at the beach with kids:
  • sandwiches or subs that can be passed out in halves or fourths (if one part is lost to the sand, you've got the other)
  • fruits that you don't cut: apples and bananas or those that can be eaten one at a time: raspberries and strawberries
  • individually wrapped cookies
  • carrot and celery sticks (if you like dip, put it in small containers)
  • lots of water (bring individual cups and a jug)
And finally, if you are really brave you can make a pizza in a solar oven. But I'd be sure to find an empty picnic table and I would be the one doling out the slices.

Wishing you homeschool blessings,
