Questions to Prepare for a New Study: How to begin studying just about anything

Have you ever wanted to create your own authentic study (unit study), but didn't know where to begin? Here are some questions to help you on your way.
  • How do I want to learn about this?
  • What will we need?
  • Where can we go?
  • Where could this lead us?
  • How deep can we go with it?
  • What questions do we have?
  • Why is my child interested in this?
  • Where is the real meaning?
  • How do we learn about it authentically?
  • What connections are there to things we've already learned about?
  • How is this real life learning?
  • What does God want us to learn from this?
  • What can we learn about Him, His creation, etc.
I'd suggest keeping a unit study journal, where you can document what your thoughts are while planning a study for you and your family. You can include what you are learning, what is delighting the children, and what you want to know more about. You could include dates and pictures and poems and facts.

Wishing you homeschool blessings,
