Plutarch: Pericles Introduction

Pericles lived about 495-429 BC in the Golden Age of Athens. He was elected to be the general of the army and is considered the greatest statesman Athens ever had.

The men of Athens believed that they were the city. Much like the church is not the building, but the body.

Pericles was responsible for the buildings at the Acropolis.

Athens was named for Athena, the goddess of victory (she wore armor) and wisdom and the arts.

We are using AO's notes on Pericles for study, questions, and text.

Wishing you homeschool blessings,
