Explorers to the New World and Around the World

My mind works in organization. So after we studied Christopher Columbus, I needed to try to pinpoint where the major explorers came from and where they went. I don't know why, but I had to and I had to organize it in a way I could understand.

Now, I know this looks like a school assignment, but it wasn't for the kiddos. It was for me; however, once I finished Ceesa and Jo-Jo came to check out what I was doing.

We learned several things together...
1) Explorers went to places where people were already living, usually rather happily.
2) Explorers came to take land and wealth from the people living there to give it to the sovereigns of the country where they were hired.
3) Explorers would sail for whoever would hire them and they were seeking a profit for themselves.
4) The natives were often time cheated and made to be slaves.

Wishing you homeschool blessings,
Bethany
