A while ago, I read some posts from Gina at Home Joys
about sugar and our addiction to it.
(She has some great tips for cutting down on it too!
We only buy plan yogurt now and put just a teaspoon in
instead of the six that fruit flavored cups have in them.)
Sugar really is in a lot of the foods we eat.
Well, we've had a kit on the human body and one of the experiments was about....
you guessed it...
sugar and starch.
Using iodine (use precautions),
you can identify a chain of simple sugars and simple sugars.
Drop iodine on different types of food.
A chain of complex sugars will turn purple or black.
Simple sugars will stay orangish brown.
Wishing you homeschool blessings,
Bethany

Oh that's a cool idea. Funny, I've just bought some iodine and have been having it in my water. We might try this with food today. Thanks for the ideas:)
