Woolly Bears and Butterflies

I had no idea that there were so many caterpillars and butterflies in our part of the world this time of year. We had great fun finding all of these, chasing them (they didn't like our shadows), photographing them, and identifiying them.

We used these sites to identify them:
Gardens with Wings
Butterflies and Moths of North America
Bug Guide

Common Buckeye

Yellow Bear Caterpillar
Aphrodite Fritillary

Woolly Bear

Hickory Tussock Moth Caterpillar
*poisonous-cause skin rash that itches and burns

Such fall time fun!
